This standard establishes a parameter for measuring the coefficient of sliding friction μ on surfaces on which footwear is generally walked. It applies to the measurement of floor surfaces with or without displacement volume of up to 4cm3 / dm2 and for textile floor coverings. The measurement can be carried out on dry, wet floors or on floors with certain lubricants, as well as on surfaces that are in use.
The slip measuring apparatus is equipped with sliders and will move parallel to the surface of the floor covering at a constant speed.
The force required in this case will be calculated along the measuring surface. To find out the coefficient of sliding friction, this force will be divided by the vertical weight of the body. This test can be carried out wet, on a surface in use, with and without agents.
